VBS

Cole had his first Vacation Bible School experience a couple weeks ago at our church. The theme was "Hometown Nazareth - Where Jesus was a Kid". It was so much fun! My friend Brenda and I were the tribe leaders for our kids' group so we got to be a part of it. Cole's favorite was the market place where the kids got to have 3 shekels per day and go to the different booths. They had a food market (snack booth), bead shop, carpentry shop, linen shop, wool shop, farmer's field, synagouge, rock quarry, and an olive oil shop. Each booth had a craft that you paid to do. It was really cool and they had some really fun crafts! They also had game time outside with Chaz the Naz and time at Mary's house where she talked about raising Jesus as her son. We learned new praise songs and learned a newBible verse every night. One really cool thing the kids did was an offering contest. They asked all the kids to bring money for a community missions project to help paint and fix up portables and stuff at local schools. It was a contest between the "east side" and the "west side" tribes. A total of $1300 was raised in 5 days by a bunch of kids! AMAZING!!! What an awsome lesson in giving! Our side, the "west side", won and a kid from each tribe got to pour a pitcher of pancake batter on Chaz the Naz's head. Needless to say, it was a great week and Cole is already looking forward to next year!
