Camping

We've had some fun weekends this June. We've been camping twice and to my parent's cabin in McCall once. Unfortunately, it's rained every weekend but we've had a blast anyways. The first weekend in June we went up to Crooked River past Idaho City. It was beautiful and we did a lot of fourwheeling, relaxing, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, and t-ball. Cole loved it and he thought the bunk beds in our camper were awsome! The night on the top bunk didn't go so well after him begging to sleep up there but he loved his own "room" on the bottom bunk the next night.

The weekend after that we spent in McCall at my parents cabin. It was tons of fun and very relaxing because of the rainy weather. It made us have to stay inside and just veg all weekend. And having Vicki and my mom to help with my boys was heavenly! We played Ticket to Ride (I couple play it about 10 times in a row!) and Sequence, watched movies, ate divine Double Chocolate Cream pie, and spent time with Casey, Kim, Jenny, Chad, Troy, Mom and Dad J. and Laird and Vicki Graham (good friends of our family). Lots of fun!!!

As for our next weekend, we decided to go camping for Father's Day. We headed up to Landmark and camped at Mudd Lake. Being Father's Day weekend, Adam picked the camp spot and doubled it with a little bit of elk scouting. That area is where they have elk hunted for years and it had a major forrest fire 2 years ago and they haven't been back since. It's so sad to see how charred it is but it was really beautiful with all the new bright green growth and various waterfalls flowing everywhere due to all the rain. It might have some hunting potential still:-) We did a little fly fishing and I caught 2 very small trout which are still really fun to catch on a fly rod! Adam used his float tube and got soaked when he jumped on in and realized his waders had a few leaks. The fire felt good after that! When we woke up Sunday morning to a major down pour, we decided to pack up and head home after breakfast. Adam was outside and yelled for me to come out. Across the meadow from us was a big bull moose. I haven't seen very many in my life and was so excited! We watched him for quite a while and he ended up coming within about 30 yards of us and Cole was really able to see him! It was so cool but of course, I had forgotten our camera so no pics. We had a great time though and can't wait for more camping this summer!

Hey there,
We were up at Mudd Lake the weekend before you guys and got poured on! It was still fun though. It is a good thing we don't tent camp anymore! I am glad you got to see the moose! We didn't see him this year, but have seen him in past years. It is an awesome sight, huh? Anyway, Chris is contemplating hunting up there or not. We saw wolf tracks, but didn't do any real scouting. Great pics--

It is so much fun to see pictures of your boys doing the same things that we did as kids. Sadly, whenever we get around to having kids, we'll probably have to send them to Aunt Shaanti and Uncle Adam to experience the real outdoors...
